Many school districts are forced to adopt a "pay to participate" fee for school athletic programs. Families that are under a financial hardship can apply for a MPHSC scholarship, and after a review process selected families will be given the opportunity to have their child’s participation fee be paid for or they can use the money for needed equipment.
“Our hope is that the support from the Michigan Pond Hockey Sports Charities will encourage and promote the health and well-being of children through youth athletics. We want children to be encouraged to play sports and stay active and not be discouraged by a price,” MPHSC Vice President, Ed Gentile.
The 2012 MPHC is taking place January 13th-15th on Whitmore Lake in Michigan, promising 3 days of nonstop 4-on-4 hockey action. The games will take place on manicured 75’ x 150’ rinks and will be 30 minutes long with no off-sides, no icing calls and no goalies. This tournament is the largest 4-on-4 pond hockey tournament in Lower Michigan and continues to grow.
Players’ who want to experience this one-of-a-kind event that takes you back to playing on backyard rinks and frozen ponds, are encouraged to act quickly as there are only a few open spots left. You can register online now at www.michiganpondhockey.com. Late registration starts December 1st and all registration will close entirely December 11th.
